So life has been so busy it’s been hard to find time to blog. But here is a song I love by Trevor Hall called Unity. Even has Matisyahu so you know it has to be good!

I found this one ” I love you and Buddha too” by Mason Jennings inspiring and so upbeat. The beat is so catchy that I find myself singing it all day long sometimes. By recognizing that God is everything and is apart of each of us is something that rings true in my heart.

Switching Lanes
Posted in Uncategorized on 05/08/2010 01:43 pm by adminLife in the 21st century can be chaotic, crazy, and fast. With mile-long to-do lists, a demanding work schedule, and the blinking red light on your blackberry, it’s too easy to lose sight of what’s truly important. It’s easy to get caught up in the fast lane, racing to the finish line, frustrated by those who slow you down. But look over to your right at the guy in the slow lane, looking like he has no where to go, no time schedule, not a care in the world. Maybe he’s not as stupid as we think, but actually has it figured out. See if you can switch lanes and slow it down, just for today. But how?
Begin to notice your breath. It is helpful to think of the word “so” on the inhale and “hum” on the exhale. Try to even out the breath by equalizing the length of the inhale and the exhale. Throughout the day, especially when you feel stress creeping in, mindfully bring awareness to your breath. The breath has an impact on your mood and your mood has an impact on your breath.
Yoga also allows us the opportunity to slow down and listen to our bodies. We can quiet the mind so much that we can focus on our Selves. So even if you have a few minutes before your next meeting, a few simple poses can be all that you need to reconnect with your best Self.
Before starting the next segment of your day take a moment to set your intention. Try doing this every time you are about to enter a new series of events. So let’s say you are about to drive somewhere. Before you pull out of the driveway think of what you would like to happen on your drive. So maybe you would say I want to have a peaceful, safe and smooth trip. Then when you get to where you are going take a moment to pause before getting out of your vehicle. Think of your intention for your next segment. Do this as often as you can remember throughout the day. You will notice that by observing your intention it will come to life.

Cleaning the Slate
Posted in Uncategorized on 04/30/2010 09:31 pm by adminThere comes a time where you have to clean off your slate. So what do you do with those things that just hang around? The ones that don’t consume you (otherwise you would’ve done something about them by now) but come up from time to time, like a shooting star that darts across your heart. As we bury things, ignore them, they begin to create a barrier. We start to become so different on the outside than on the inside we hardly even recognize ourselves.
To truly let your brightest light shine, the layers of dust have to be removed from the source. Allowing yourself to not only allow the light to shine through, but even illuminating and reflecting it so that the whole world can see it.
To dust off our layers, we need to make amends with each piece. Making amends isn’t always about making friends with a past enemy (although that may have its place), but rather making amends with your memory, with your heart. So sometimes making amends is giving yourself compassion for the situation. Understanding that there are times in your life where you can make amends with yourself by letting go of the guilt. So it is more of a making amends with yourself than with other people, although that sometimes comes with the territory. So listen to your heart, it will tell you what serves it. Then actively become what you know you need to be your brightest self.

Posted in Leah-ology on 04/25/2010 01:36 pm by adminWhenever something speaks to me, I may not listen at first. But some things, no matter how much you ignore them, just keep popping up. That’s when I give the universe credit in knowing what I need; I listen….
That’s what happened with this flyer about Sri Sri Ravi Shankar….whom I honestly have never heard of. So I just bit the bullet and bought the tickets, even though I couldn’t pronounce his name or tell you that it was about anything more than meditation. Thank you universe, what an unforgettable evening! I will share one of his words of wisdom, and he had many.
He asked “So you want to learn more about spirituality?” And then he pulled out his cell phone (by the looks of him I didn’t think he even knew what a cell phone was). He said he kept trying to make calls but they wouldn’t go through. He checked the number and still, no luck! Then, he realized there was no SIM card. This is what we are doing.
We pray but don’t connect! Even when we are connected, we have to continually recharge to keep the connection going.
Everything around you can be a lesson if you let it be one.
Smile more
